A pair of antique Spanish Colonial Friar’s Arm Chairs from Mexico.
18th Century.
The Friar’s Chairs have embossed polychrome and tooled leather on the backs. The embossed motif on one of the Friar's Chair is o an eagle eating a serpent on top of a Nopal cactus. The design is surrounded by a wreath of laurel and olive leaves and framed in a floral and bird design.
The second Chair displays a floral design with bird elements.
Both chairs have the Holy Eucharist embossed on the center top and bottom of the back. The seats have a tooled geometric design.
